Avery Wisner (he/him) works primarily as a stage manager at BAAY, but has also been a director, assistant director and has filled plenty of other supporting roles behind the scenes. Avery is a graduate of WWU’s Theatre Arts program and has been at BAAY since the fall of 2022.

“BAAY’s high school cohort has a special place in my heart because that’s where I started,” Avery said. While he has worked with a number of different age groups, Avery shared that it was really rewarding to work with the older students on advanced pieces, with complex choreography and prop work.

Another experience that was special to Avery was getting to stage and direct a show that he wrote for BAAY students ages 7-8.

“Seeing my lines and little witty writing on stage was really cool,” Avery said. “That was probably one of the most rewarding things.”

Avery said that any kid considering coming to BAAY for the first time should do it because everyone belongs at BAAY.

“One of the reasons I’ve stuck around at BAAY so long is because of how inclusive we are,” Avery said. He highlighted how BAAY supports kids of all gender identities, economic backgrounds, social backgrounds, and more.

“BAAY is a place for everybody,” Avery said.
