You are invited to Cabaret!

About: In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920’s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.

Performances run August 18-20 and 25-27 at Mount Baker Theatre’s Walton Theatre, with a special dinner theatre performance on August 26 at 7pm. Tickets and more info at mountbakertheatre.com.

BAAY’s State Street Theatre Company (SSTC) is a program dedicated to the artistry and talent of our local youth ages 15-18. SSTC integrates more challenging material and aims to prepare musical theatre students for collegiate-level work, as well as empower them to understand the significance of their artistic expression. SSTC’s Cabaret is directed by Olivia Theilemann, with musical direction by Dylan Cisneros and choreography by Lisa Markowitz.
