It’s with haunted hearts that we share the passing of BAAY’s annual Fear Garden fundraiser at Boundary Bay Brewery. Given Boundary’s imminent closure, we’ve decided that it’s time to retire the event. It’s been an incredible, decade-long journey — setting the gold standard for one-of-a-kind, locally-grown Halloween traditions.

Over the past 10 years, this event has raised over $70,000 for BAAY and its mission to enrich the lives of children through the exploration of the arts. Our biggest thanks to the incredible build crew, led by Ian Bivins, who raised the Fear Garden from the dead every year. From design to construction to tear down, this event would not have been possible without their generous gifts of time and labor. Many of them even performed in the late-night hours of the Fear Garden! So, it’s very likely that they were also the cause of your delightful screams.

Thank you to all other volunteers who helped with the event, to our student actors who haunted the garden, to our event sponsors, and to Boundary Bay Brewery for generously hosting us all these years and making our nightmares come true. The Fear Garden may be dead… but never forgotten. The jump scares, squeals, and wicked laughter will live on in our hearts!

PS. The BAAY Zombie Dancers WILL rise again this fall.
