Overview
The mission of Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth is to enrich the lives of children through exploration of the arts. Through our educational programs we help children develop confidence, character, creativity, and community. All BAAY staff, board, and volunteers agree to support The BAAY Way.
Responsibilities
This position involves working collaboratively with other members of the production team (show director, stage manager, and assistants). Pippi Longstocking is an original adaptation and includes a variety of musical numbers for full ensembles, small groups, and solos. The Music Director leads the music portions of weekly rehearsals with students ages 9-12.

Commitment
This is a part-time employee position and starts at $17/hr. This Music Director would be working with casts 1 and 2 of the show, and the schedule for each is listed below:
CAST 1:
Weekly rehearsals: Mon/Wed from 5:30-6:45 PM
First rehearsal: February 12 (no rehearsals 4/1-4/5)
Saturday rehearsal: March 16 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Tech week: May 6-9, Mon-Thurs daily from 5:00-8:30 PM
Performances: May 10 and 11 at 7:00 PM, May 11 and 12 at 2:00 PM
CAST 2:
Weekly rehearsals: Mon/Wed from 7:00-8:15 PM
First rehearsal: February 12 (no rehearsals 4/1-4/5 and 5/6-5/12)
Saturday rehearsal: March 23 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Tech week: May 13-16, Mon-Thurs daily from 5:00-8:30 PM
Performances: May 17 and 18 at 7:00 PM, May 18 and 19 at 2:00 PM
Skills and Qualifications:
- Passion for BAAY and its mission
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction
- Previous experience working with youth
- Ability to read music, play piano, and lead vocal warmups
- Musically adaptable – able to adjust music to suit different skill levels and voices, and able to learn and teach music in a variety of genres
- Sense of humor, team player, ability to have fun while getting things done
